Aortic Valve Replacement Without Open-Heart Surgery | News Brief

The FDA has approved an artificial heart valve (Sapien Transcatheter Heart Valve, Edwards Lifesciences) for use when replacing an aortic heart valve damaged by senile aortic valve stenosis. The FDA reports that the device is the first to be approved that does not require open-heart surgery.
