Results of a small, 12-week study indicate that acupuncture appears to be a useful adjunctive therapy for reducing dyspnea on exertion (DOE) in patients with COPD. Patients who underwent acupuncture in addition to standard medication experienced improvements in a 6-minute walk for distance test, a sign of increased exercise tolerance and reduced DOE.
