Diabetes Duration Tied to Ischemic Stroke Risk

American research suggests that diabetes duration appears to be independently associated with ischemic stroke after adjusting for risk factors. Among study participants with diabetes, the risk for stroke increased 3% each year and tripled when patients had diabetes for 10 years or longer.
