High Satisfaction Seen With the ESI | News Brief

Most ED professionals who use the Emergency Severity Index (ESI)—a five-level ED triage algorithm designed to help sort patients in the emergency room—appear to be satisfied with using the tool, according to findings from a questionnaire. Those who used the ESI indicated that it was more accurate than other triage algorithms. Respondents reported that it reduced subjectivity in the triage process. However, the authors noted that few EDs have formally assessed how the ESI has impacted their operations.
