Less than 10% of eligible older patients with low ejection fraction following acute myocardial infarction (AMI) appear to receive an implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD), according to a study. However, ICD recipients had a lower hazard ratio (0.64) for 2-year mortality when compared with non-recipients.
