Breast Cancer Resources for Your Patients

Breast Cancer Resources for Your Patients

October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. A multitude of resources for patients are available on the websites listed below. The National Breast Cancer website offers both web-based and mobile resources for information on the disease, including iPhone and iPad apps for breast cancer detection and education. Visitors to the website can also sign up to raise funds for women who cannot afford mammograms. The organization also sponsors the NBCF Patient Navigator Program, a proactive approach to helping patients overcome the barriers of cost, fear, and misinformation surrounding a disease and its prevention. An online store is available on the website for National Breast Cancer Awareness Month — a collaboration of national public service organizations, professional medical associations. The store offers dozens of items emblazoned with the iconic pink ribbon symbolizing breast cancer — including cell phone and ipad accessories, totes, and clothing, all of which can be imprinted. A portion of each sale goes to breast cancer education. Youtube is also a great resource for videos on breast cancer. In the video below, Otis Brawley, M.D., Chief Medical Officer for the American Cancer Society, discusses the latest breast cancer findings for women ages 40-48. For more information on breast cancer awareness month, visit the websites mentioned above as well as the American Breast Cancer Society website....
