The 37th Congress of the European Committee for Treatment and Research in Multiple Sclerosis (ECTRIMS) in Vienna is the world’s largest annual international conference devoted to basic and clinical research in multiple sclerosis, taking place October 13-15, 2021. ECTRIMS 2021 is this year’s most anticipated gathering of professionals in the field of MS, which can be experienced by registrants on a new digital platform.

The ECTRIMS program will offer scientific, hot topic, and educational sessions, free communications, young investigator sessions, guided ePoster Sessions, and meet-the-expert opportunities to promote robust discussions. This year’s program will focus on the translation of current neuropathological and immunopathogenetic insights to fluid- and imaging-based biomarkers. The transition towards more individualized treatment and caregiving in adult and pediatric patients with MS and related disorders will also be approached. A joint session of all regional ‘–TRIMS’ organizations will emphasize key global views. Additional highlights will include:

  • Staying on ‘treatment target’ during COVID
  • Guidance on vaccination
  • Advances in MS pathology that bring us closer to personalized treatment
  • Use of high-efficacy treatments (HET) from ‘day one’
  • Young people with MS (18-19 years) rate their health status lower than those over 80 years in the general population
