Vaccine hesitancy, ’jumping the line,’ and testing in kids

In this BreakingMED exclusive video, Henry H. Bernstein, DO, member of the CDC’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practice (ACIP) discusses ACIP’s role in the roll-out of Covid-19 vaccines prior to ACIP’s scheduled emergency meetings Dec. 19 and 20. Bernstein talked with BreakingMED Editor-in-Chief, Peggy Peck, just as the FDA announced it had granted an Emergency Use Authorization to Moderna for its two-dose mRNA vaccine.

Bernstein, who is a professor of pediatrics at Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell and Cohen Children’s Medical Center, also serves as Associate Editor of Red Book Online and is an ex-officio member of the Committee on Infectious Diseases of the American Academy of Pediatrics. In the interview, he discusses the need for vaccine tests in the pediatric population, vaccine hesitancy, and ethical concerns about offering vaccines to those who received placebo doses in the clinical trials.
