AKH CME: Opportunistic Mold Infections: Progess & Challenges

CME Credit: 0.50 hour activities

Invasive mold infections have been identified with increased morbidity and mortality rates among hospitalized patients. Invasive fungal infections (IFIs) have also been associated with higher mortality rates. Delayed diagnosis and initiation of appropriate therapy may be a cause of these negative outcomes. These activities review the epidemiology, current and emerging diagnostic techniques, why therapy fails, current therapeutic options, and the development of novel treatment choices for improving care in patients with invasive mold infections and IFIs.
