The following is a summary of “A Multi-Center Clinical Trial to Evaluate the Efficacy of the Next Generation TriHex Technology Antiaging Regimen,” published in the April 2025 issue of Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology by Gold et al.
The background revealed that Alastin Restorative Skin Complex Serum with TriHex Technology was reformulated to include Octapeptide-45 and magnolol, enhancing facial skin hydration, elasticity, plumping, and overall skin quality.
Researchers conducted a retrospective study to validate the science and demonstrate the efficacy and tolerability of the product in individuals with moderate to severe facial skin aging.
They enrolled 44 eligible participants (43 female, 1 male), aged 35–69 years with Fitzpatrick skin Types I–VI, for a study from February to August 2024. Participants used Alastin Restorative Skin Complex Serum 2.0 with TriHex Technology (RSC 2.0) twice daily for 12 weeks, alongside an Alastin Skincare Inc. supportive regimen (cleanser, moisturizer, sunscreen as needed). A 1-week run-in phase with the supportive regimen only was followed by baseline eligibility reassessment. Follow-up visits in Weeks 4, 8, and 12 included clinical evaluation of facial skin quality, subject assessments, satisfaction questionnaires, biopsy collection, photography, hydration, and elasticity measurements. Participants maintained a study diary during the 12-week treatment period.
The results showed significant improvements in all clinically evaluated facial skin parameters by Week 12. Histological analysis demonstrated increased stimulation of new adipocytes, epidermal keratinocyte hyaluronic acid (HA) (CD44), and the formation of new dermal collagen and elastin fibers following treatment.
Investigators concluded that Alastin Restorative Skin Complex Serum 2.0 with TriHex Technology was safe and effective in enhancing OA facial skin quality, resulting in significant improvements in volume, plumping, hydration, and the stimulation of extracellular matrix (ECM) collagen and elastin.
