The following is a summary of “CRISPR-based biosensors for human health: A novel strategy to detect emerging infectious diseases,” published in the September 2023 issue of Infectious Disease by He et al.
CRISPR biosensors are a promising new approach for detecting infectious diseases early and rapidly due to their high sensitivity and specificity. Researchers performed a retrospective study to review recent advances in CRISPR-based biosensors for infectious disease detection.
The study presented the current status of CRISPR systems, outlined pre-amplification techniques, highlighted the distinct characteristics of each CRISPR system, and discussed the design of biosensing strategies based on CRISPR for detecting disease-associated nucleic acids.
The study examined the current challenges and presented prospects to enhance the development of more effective CRISPR-based biosensors for improving human health.
