A retrospective analysis of more than 45,000 patients indicates that BMI appears to predict operative times across elective colorectal procedures. Patients with morbid obesity, based on BMI, had longer operative times than normal weight patients who underwent open and laparoscopic ileocolic resections, partial colectomies, and low pelvic anastomoses.
