Bronchoscopy is an aerosol-producing technique that has major diagnostic and therapeutic applications. However, in the midst of the coronavirus illness 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, airway operations can raise the risk of COVID-19 exposure and transmission to health care professionals. To stratify the criteria for bronchoscopy and enhance preprocedural, procedural, and postprocedural preparation, researchers examined and summarised recommendations from several societies of respiratory medicine.

When executing this aerosol-generating technique, appropriate precautions can help reduce exposure to health care personnel.
