To help, the patient information Web site of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), People Living With Cancer (PLWC), offers a variety of resources in its Coping section that specifically address concerns that arise during this time of the year, particularly from Thanksgiving to New Year’s Day. People living with cancer often face unique challenges during the holiday season, ranging from balancing mixed emotions to facing physical limitations that may curb traditional activities. It may also be a time of added stress for caretakers and loved ones.

People with breast cancer can find several resources on PLWC from the 2007 Breast Cancer Symposium, cosponsored by ASCO on September 7 to 8 in San Francisco, California. First, a special edition of the Cancer Advances newsletter summarizes some of the research presented at this meeting. Based on an updated clinical practice guideline published by ASCO, this patient guide describes the recommendations regarding different tumor markers that should be used at specific points during the diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer.

So at last we can say that ASCO has done a lot to help out patients.
