Aggressive risk factor management appears to improve the long-term success of atrial fibrillation (AF) ablation, according to results of an Australian study. When compared with controls, patients who underwent risk factor management experienced greater reductions in weight and blood pressure as well as better glycemic control and lipid profiles. Patients receiving aggressive risk factor management also had greater reductions in AF frequency, duration, symptoms, and symptom severity at follow-up, among other benefits.
