The prevalence of unrecognized myocardial infarction (MI) by cardiac MRI appears to be higher than that of community-dwelling older adults. Icelandic researchers found that 9.7% of participants had recognized MI, whereas 17.0% had unrecognized MI detected by cardiac MRI. Patients with diabetes had more unrecognized MI detected by cardiac MRI than by ECG.
