Researchers in the United Kingdom have found that serious adverse outcomes appear to be less common in the second pregnancies of women with preexisting diabetes. The investigators note, however, that the risk is comparable in those whose first pregnancy ends in an adverse outcome. They add that reducing the risk of diabetes recurrence may require more support in the immediate period after an adverse pregnancy result.
