SARS-CoV-2, a new coronavirus that causes coronavirus illness 2019 (COVID-19), has now become a worldwide epidemic. Human-to-human transmission has been observed via respiratory secretions, feces, aerosols, and contaminated ambient surfaces. Pediatric patients provide a special difficulty since they may have no symptoms yet still transmit illness. Endoscopists are in danger of contracting viruses such as SARS-CoV-2 due to the aerosol-generating nature of endoscopy, which spreads respiratory illness via an airborne and droplet route.
The study presents our center’s technique for risk stratifying pediatric patients in order to promote prudent utilization of endoscopic resources during this crisis. It also discusses suggestions for endoscopists to utilize personal protective equipment in order to ensure the safety of ourselves, our anesthesia and endoscopy personnel, and our patients.
