Nearly one in four people with diabetes reported stroke symptoms in a study of more than 25,000 patients. The prevalence of any stroke symptom was:

22.7% for people with diabetes.
15.6% for people with prediabetes.
14.9% for people with normal glycemia.

Diabetes was associated with numbness (prevalence odds ratio [POR] 1.15), vision loss (POR 1.52), half-vision loss (POR 1.54), and lost ability to understand people (POR 1.34) in the study.
