For a study, the researchers aimed to identify the most highly cited articles that were related to cervical myelopathy and analyzed the most influential articles. Over the past several decades, many investigations have been conducted regarding the subject of cervical myelopathy. The selection of search terms and keywords was input into the “Dimensions” database, and the most cited articles in cervical myelopathy were selected from high effect factor journals. The top 100 articles were examined for a year of publication, authorship, publishing journals, institution and country of origin, subject matter, article type, and level of evidence. The 100 most cited articles on the topic of cervical myelopathy were found to be published from 1956 to 2015. The articles, their respective authors, and a number of citations were reported. The number of citations ranged from 121 times for the 100th article to 541 times for the top article in a total of 20 journals. The most common topic came out to be of operative technique, whereas the journals that contributed the most articles were found to be the Spine Journal and the Journal of Neurosurgery. The researchers supplied an extensive list of the most historically important articles regarding cervical myelopathy, acknowledging the key contributions made to the advancement of this field.
