Coronavirus or covid-19 outbreak was started in December 2019. It was declared a global pandemic. During this time the treatment of spinal diseases had become harder for the clinics and doctors. They had to go through several new processes like online diagnosis, continuous screening, outpatient reservation, isolation, first consultation accounting systems, online revisit system, and continuous follow-ups for the patients. To control this virus outbreak, the neurosurgeons have collaborated with the specialists for infection control to avoid and stop cross-infection during the surgery. This has provided optimized treatment to patients with serious spinal issues. The doctors have taken care of the patients with mild problems through online visits and diagnosis processes.

The process the spine surgeons have followed during the pandemic was – First, they have asked the patients to do advanced appointments. Next, they go through the primary triage and screening. For both normal and confirmed cases, the patients needed to sign the consent form. Then based on the symptoms the doctors started their diagnosis and treatment for the spinal problems. They have gone through another thorough screening test for the patients. If it is found that the surgery is essential, then only they went for it.
