Understanding Unintentional Opioid Overdose Injury

Among opioid users, unintentional overdose injury appears to be related to the prescribed opioid’s duration of action, according to researchers from Boston. Patients with chronic painful conditions who received long-acting opioids had a significantly higher rate of overdose injury than did those receiving short-acting opioids.
