Cancer-related fatigue (CRF) appears to be common among women with breast cancer who have recently undergone surgery, but this fatigue appears to run a self-limiting course, according to a prospective cohort study.

Overall, the rates of CRF were 24% after surgery and 31% at the end of adjuvant treatment. CRF was persistent in 11% of patients at 6 months and 6% at 12 months. The authors suggest that previously reported high rates of persistent CRF might be attributable to factors outside of cancer or its treatment.
