Artificial intelligence (AI), a subject including data science, has recently experienced tremendous expansion in its application to healthcare and beyond, and is now an essential part of daily life. AI applications in gastroenterology include automated disease identification and distinction of pathology subtypes and disease severity. Although the bulk of AI research in gastroenterology is focused on adult applications, a variety of paediatric diseases might benefit from more investigation.
As new and improved diagnostic technologies become available and more information is extracted from them, AI may offer clinicians a means to condense massive volumes of data into improved decision-making and cost savings for children with digestive problems. This study includes an overview of artificial intelligence (AI) as well as examples of its potential uses in paediatric gastroenterology.
