Neuropathic pain in women with bladder pain syndrome (BPS) appears to be significantly associated with the severity of bladder and bowel pain, urinary urgency, and diarrhea, according to a study from investigators in Philadelphia. Neuropathic pain also significantly worsened quality of life and was associated with higher pain catastrophizing scores when compared with a lack of neuropathic pain in women with BPS.
