A 15-year analysis showed a trend toward reduced mortality, healthcare costs, and hospital length of stay for HF hospitalizations among older adults, according to results published in Circulation: Heart Failure. Abdul Mannan Khan Minhas, MD, and colleagues analyzed more than 6 million weighted HF hospitalizations. Following an initial decrease in HF hospitalizations, from 4,211 in 2004 to 3,089 in 2014, they increased to 3,388 in 2018. Adjusted inpatient mortality declined from 2004- 2018. The investigators observed a reduction in adjusted mean length of stay from 6.0 days in 2004 to 4.7 days in 2018.
