Exclusive enteral nutrition (EEN) is successful in producing remission in children with Crohn’s disease (CD) and has been found to decrease inflammation and improve outcomes in adults with Crohn’s disease (CD) when administered prior to resectional surgery. This retrospective analysis shows that preoperative EEN is possible in pediatric CD patients having right hemicolectomy and is linked with favorable perioperative outcomes. The research comprised seventeen individuals, eight of whom got preoperative EEN and nine of whom did not. Six of eight patients were treated orally, with one using a nasogastric tube and another using a previously sited gastrostomy.

Preoperative EEN was linked to a lower risk of moderate/severe disease on resection histology. Larger trials are needed to establish the possible advantages of preoperative EEN on postoperative outcomes in pediatric practice.
