For a review, researchers wanted to go over the arguments in favor of making better use of existing data in health research. The reuse of data in observational, exploratory, and outcome research, as well as validating other results, is being justified on epistemological grounds as the primary road to new knowledge and the generalization of findings to real world’ populations. It is also justified in terms of cost, power, and efficiency, despite the fact that data reuse raises serious informatics, scientific culture, social, and regulatory concerns.

Data repurposing is becoming increasingly appealing. When considering new research for any reason other than RCTs for efficacy, it is advisable to explore if collaboration with current data holders should be part of the best research strategy.
