The endocannabinoid system is a complex and almost ubiquitous network of endogenous ligands, enzymes, and receptors that may be triggered by exogenous substances produced from the Cannabis sativa plant. Recent research has revealed that the endocannabinoid system is completely functioning in the skin and is responsible for several aspects of skin homeostasis, including proliferation, differentiation, and the release of inflammatory mediators.

The endocannabinoid system has been researched for its moderating effects on both inflammatory skin diseases and skin cancer due to its function in regulating these essential processes. In this review, researchers aim to highlight the present, rapidly increasing field of research on cannabis’ broad potential usefulness in inflammatory and neoplastic skin conditions.

Despite the fact that marijuana is classified as a Schedule I substance in the United States, there has been an increase in the number of research and clinical trials focusing on the medicinal benefits of cannabinoids.
