For this year’s American Academy of Ophthalmology annual meeting, the AAO organization has created the following health and safety requirements as they are committed to the health and well-being of meeting attendees, exhibitors, staff and meeting contractors. health and safety requirements include:

  • All attendees must be fully vaccinated, and masks will be required.
  • Rooms will be designed for increased physical distancing and cleaned between sessions.
  • Hand sanitizing stations will be available throughout the convention center.

How to Show Proof of Vaccination

The Academy will be using the free CLEAR app to facilitate proof of vaccination at AAO 2021. Here’s how to download the app.

Download the free CLEAR app then follow the steps below before arriving in New Orleans.

  1. Open the CLEAR app
  2. Tap on the white Health Pass tile.
  3. Select “All” and enter the code AAO2021
  4. Create your account (you will be asked for your phone number and email; to scan a photo ID; and then to take a photo).
  5. Follow prompts to add your COVID-19 proof of vaccination. You can securely link to a health provider, scan a SMART QR code or upload your CDC card.
